Today we are glad to welcome Maryne, founder of the blog thedreamcatcheuse.com, a blog full of tricks, trips, advices and fun ! Discover it !
1. Hello Maryne, can you introduce yourself and your blog thedreamcatcheuse.com?
Hi, My name is Maryne, I’m 26. I come from Paris and live in Montreal since 2013. I have started my blog – TheDreamCatcheuse.com – in 2012, its name being inspired by the fact that I’m a dreamer and I fight to achieve my dreams (in French, “une catcheuse” is “a wrestler”, so it’s a cute and funny play of words).
I started blogging about fashion when I was in Paris because it was – according to me – the best place to create content around that topic. It immediately started really well and fast (since I used to work for fashion press offices, I had a good network over there).
When I arrived in Montreal, I quickly understood it wouldn’t be the place to blog about fashion for me (brands are not as “fancy” as in France where we have gorgeous and very trendy collections with not-so-bad quality from very affordable brands. I unfortunately find it is most of the time the opposite in Montréal). So… I found a new interest in sports (especially water sports), travel and outdoors. Quebec is a beautiful province I love exploring and I buy plane tickets as soon as I have 3 days off 🙂 This is now what most of my content is about (but I continue to post some outfits and like talking from time to time about my life habits or beauty).
2. What are your editorial habits ? (I write my own content, someone writes for me, someone proofreads me, I take my own pictures for the blog, I post a lot of videos ect…)
I write my own content, sometimes collaborate with photographers to take my pictures for the blog. It is either me taking the pictures or some friends of mine who kindly help with that. I write as often as I can and I must say it is really hard to be consistent on that point. I cumulate 2 jobs (1 full time and one part time), I work 12 to 15 hours a day so when I manage to find time for that, I write on the blog. I can be one time a month or twice a week, I’m really not regular and that’s what I aim starting to be (#BigChallenge).
How do you use social networks ? Which one do you prefer ?
When starting my blog, I mainly focused on Facebook. Then, I must admit I became a serious Instagram addict. I love Instagram because it gives me the opportunity to engage with my community very regularly through my pictures and captions, it just takes a few seconds or minutes to do while a blog post requires average 3 hours of work.
I use Pinterest for my personal use, I love finding inspiration there.
I barely use Twitter, it is not really a social network I enjoy using and I don’t have time to be everywhere at the same time so I prefer focusing on the 2 most important for me : Facebook and Instagram.
What are the meaningful moments of the development of the blog ?
I started it in 2012, then, in 2013 I had a friend designing a beautiful header for me that became my signature : an illustration, a portrait of me.
Then, in 2015, I moved from Blogger to WordPress with a brand new design, responsive, much more trendy and user friendly. A few weeks ago I got bored with it and wanted something that was better reflecting my new strategy, that looked more professional, more like a website and less like a blog. A new logo, black and white design, something classy and with a few interactions on it : a carousel at the top and a gif of me as a profile picture in the sidebar. I launched it 2 days ago and I am super proud and happy with the result!
Who’s your target ?
I target people from Canada (mainly Quebec since – for now – the blog is only in French) and from France. Women, between 16 and 35. I know some men also read my blog, they are very active on my Instagram account and I’m very flattered about that haha
Which are the most popular categories of your blog ?
Fashion and Travel.
Where do you find inspiration ?
In my everyday life, in my Instagram feed, on Pinterest and of course in my travels 🙂
A little message for Upfluence ?
Thanks a lot for your interest in my blog, I hope you like my new website design and will be very happy to collaborate again with you in the future 🙂
All the best!
