Dominika is the founder of the blog “From Munich with Love”, a german-speaking family and lifestyle blog. Through this interview, she tells us more about her life and mummy blogs.
Hello Dominika, can you introduce yourself and your blog frommunichwithlove.de ?
Hi there! My name is Dominika and I am a Polish mom living in Munich, Germany. My blog “From Munich with Love” is a German-speaking family and lifestyle blog. I write about our family live, bilingual upbringing and moms who work as entrepreneurs. Additionally I review some interesting products or services relevant to my live.
What are your editorial habits ? (I write my own content, someone writes for me, someone proofreads me, I take my own pictures for the blog, I post a lot of videos ect…)
I always write the texts myself and use my own pictures. For the products I test, sometimes I use company pictures as well. I also publish guest-articles from people I know. Especially when I find some subjects interesting or valuable for my readers but this guest author has a better knowledge or more information about this specific topic.
How do you use social networks ? Which one do you prefer ?
Yes, I do use social networks, as I think they are essential for a popular blog. Most traffic I get from Facebook, but personally I prefer Instagram. You can post a nice picture and share it with the whole world! Isn’t it exciting?!
What do you think about the expansion of mummy blogs ?
I think that mummy blogs are very helpful and important for many parents and families. We share our experiences, exchange ideas or help each other with tips that we had already checked out. Blogging also helps to work in a flexible way, which allows a lot of moms to be less stressed and to have more time to spend with their family. The whole online-world is changing very fast and blogging helps us to stay up to date with the digital reality.
What are the meaningful moments of the development of the blog ?
In a few weeks my blog is celebrating its 2 nd birthday! This anniversary motives me to do a modern relaunch, adjust the categories on the blog, and analyze the achievements that have happened so far and to make the best out of it! I always try to improve my qualifications; I read a lot on the internet and upgrade my knowledge about social networks and blogging. I also try to meet other bloggers personally, e.g. at some events or conferences. It is a good way of networking.
Who’s your target ?
Well, I mostly cater for parents, most of them are mothers age 25 – 44. My children are still young (3 and 5 years old), so the families with children are my main target. As I write a lot about the bilingual upbringing, my blog reaches many expats families or parents who face those challenges.
Which are the most popular categories of your blog ?
Since 2015 I have been publishing weekly interviews with some independently working moms who have very interesting business ideas. All of them have children and work hard to combine their family and professional life. This category is called “Mama Start-Up” and is very well associated with my blog.
Where do you find inspiration ?
I read many other blogs, talk to with other parents and have my eyes and ears wide open. As a foreigner living in Germany I notice things that surround us or maybe just see them from a different point of view. I also listen to my heart and ask myself, is the topic I am going to write about something I would like to read about myself.
A little message for Upfluence ?
The important and deciding factor if you want to work with a blog should not only be the amount of clicks and visits, but also the quality of the relationship between the blogger and his audience. Are the readers engaging with the blog? Do they treat the blogger as a friend? Do they trust the blog? Those values are not really measurable, but you can sort of feel them while corresponding with the blogger or reading the blog.
